When the judge calls the name of your case, stand up and say “Ready, Your Honor.” Judges usually require you to meet with a family relations counselor, who is a trained mediator, if you have not reached an agreement.
Even if you reach an agreement with the help of a family relations counselor, be sure to go back and report it to the judge so that it can become a court order. If you do not reach an agreement, return to the courtroom and report that to the judge.
When the name of your case is called, go to the front of the courtroom with your completed documents. The judge will tell you what to do next. Answer respectfully any questions the judge asks and do not interrupt the judge.
